I first met Jodi and William at The Yoga Nest a few months ago (July 2019) when I photographed a childbirth class for Dawna’s Birth Services. You can read about that here. They are one of the sweetest families I have had the pleasure of working with as a newborn photographer.
As with every Mom I meet, Jodi wanted someone who she can trust with her newborn, someone who specializes in newborn photography. It’s important to understand that when you decide to hire a newborn photographer, you choose someone who is trained and insured, so your little one is in safe hands. We always have an assistant during our newborn sessions because your newborn’s safety is always our priority.
This sweet baby came to my studio at 7 days old and she was a dream. She smiled so much, as you can see in her first family photo. Moms and Dads get a little bit of a break during their session as I pose and photograph their baby. I love that I get to snuggle each baby I photograph. That’s one of my favorite parts of photographing newborns.
A newborn photo session is sometimes a family’s first outing with their baby after they gone home from the hospital or birth center. It can be a challenge getting out of the house with a brand new baby that’s just a week old. Parent’s are often sleep deprived and it can be stressful, especially if it’s their first.
Each newborn session is customized to each family’s vision and ideas. From the color palette to incorporating a special prop, we want these memories to be special and meaningful to each family.
For this session, Mom wanted neutrals with a little hint of blush pink. We also incorporated a felted airplane (made by Genny Lynn Photography) to resemble Daddy’s plane and his love for flying.
During the style and concept consultation, we explore your ideas and discuss the vision you have for your session. Using a variety of digital backdrops allows us to offer an artistic style and wider variety of images without having to store the physical props. Posing newborns on a safe prop specifically for the digital backdrop also ensures baby’s safety at all times.
Details…they change so quickly right before our very eyes. Capturing these details may seem less important now, but these will quickly become a favorite as time passes. Parents do love to include a detail spread in their newborn’s album.
Thank you Jodi for trusting me and allowing me to capture this special moment for you.
